🎂 Birthday cafés (생카): how they work and how to visit
A birthday café is a regular café that fans take over for a few days around an idol's birthday, filled with decorations and fan-made goods. Here's how to find one, what you get, and how to be a great guest.

- Find the eventOrganizers announce birthday cafés on X (Twitter), and fans also list them on community event databases. Save the address, dates and goodies list before you go.
- Go early for limited goodiesLimited freebies are first-come, first-served, and for popular designs fans line up hours before opening. Arrive early if one item really matters to you.
- Order a drinkThe goodies (cup holders, photocards, stickers) usually come with your drink order. Cafés typically host these events without a rental fee and earn from drinks and desserts, so ordering is how you say thanks.
- Follow the organizer's noticeEvery event sets its own rules (sets per order, photo spots, time limits). Read the posted notice and listen to café staff.
- Head to Hongdae or Myeong-dongHongdae is the biggest hub, with around 50 venues that regularly host birthday cafés; Myeong-dong has many too.
