🚕 Taking a taxi in Seoul
Seoul taxis are metered and easy to use. Know the night surcharges and pick an app that works without a Korean number.
Step by step
- Standard fareRegular sedan taxi: ₩4,800 for the first 1.6 km, then ₩100 per 131 m or per 30 seconds (daytime). Deluxe and brand taxis cost more.
- Late-night surchargeThe base goes up to ₩5,800 from 22:00–23:00 and 02:00–04:00 (+20%), and to ₩6,700 from 23:00–02:00 (+40%).
- k.ride for visitorsKakao Mobility's app for foreigners: sign in with a phone number, Google, Apple or email, pay with an overseas card, use it in English, Chinese or Japanese, and chat with the driver through live translation. At launch it offered Blue, Venti, Black and Deluxe taxis with service fees.
- Kakao TThe main Korean app needs a Kakao account first. You can pay the driver in cash, by card or with T-money.
- International TaxiDrivers speak English, Japanese or Chinese; the meter plus 20%, or flat zone fares from Incheon Airport. Booking: 1644-2255.
